Pre season fitness started a few weeks ago with sessions near our home ground at Albert Park.  Attendance has been growing over the last few weeks with many new and old faces joining in. All players seniors, juniors, vets are encouraged to join in these fitness sessions, turf starts this week for SL & Pennant. More details including pre season timetable on the website……

Turf training for State League & Pennant players starts this week…

Tues 14th & Thur 16th Feb @ SHC Turf 7.30-8.30pm

Arrive ready to go at 7.15pm, running after training turf.

Important note for new players: If you are keen to play competitive hockey at Power House but unsure of the grade, please discuss with Shorty and come along to turf training Tue or Thur this week to try out.

Saturday fitness: Feb 18^th - All players invited
9:00am start at PHSK Hockey Ground, Albert Park (be there 8:45am).

Session will consist of fitness, strength & agility activities followed by coffee / brunch nearby.

Turf training for Metro grades will commence in mid – late March.  If you’re keen to start earlier, please let us know and we’ll organise some sessions.  We also need a volunteer/s to run the Sat morning fitness sessions for Metro & new players (as SL & Pennant start practice matches on Sat next week).  So if you already run on the weekends and you’d be happy for others to join, please contact us to discuss…

• 23- Sun 25^th Mar: Pre Season camp at Ocean Grove – SL & Pen A (see flyer)
• 31^st Mar: Intra Club practice / grading matches + club set up = ALL teams / players
• 1^st Apr: Early bird payment deadline – see registration page on website
• 3^rd April: Training back at Albert Park Tue & Thur
• All players registered with Hockey VIC and PHSK plus min $100 deposit paid on fees
• 14^th/15^th April:  Round 1, 2012!

• Registration for Club members is twofold. Members need to register on Sporting Pulse to allow Hockey Victoria to enter the member’s name on the PHSTK player list  AND register with the Club in accordance with the Constitution together with payment of fees.. Please keep safe your Hockey Victoria  username and password recently emailed to you for Sporting Pulse registration. If you do not have a recent email from HV please ask the Vice President for your section.

• The Club is linking to online payment by credit card and debit card just offered by NAB and Sporting Pulse. Online registration  for both Club and Sporting Pulse combined (one stop shopping)will be open after 13 February to allow NAB time to set up.

• Members will also be able to register separately with Sporting Pulse and with the Club with various means of paying fees other than online which incurs a surcharge. The preferred (and cheapest) method of payment remains by direct deposit into the Club’s account . Credit card cash and cheque payment will also be available. The forms and links will be available on the website after 13 February-maybe earlier for this option!

• Members will be required to pay the early bird discount by 1 April or a minimum of $100 before round one. The Club needs to cover HV Club affiliation, team registrations and insurance all of which are due and have been significantly increased.

Australian Hockey Players

2012 being an Olympic year, its vital for players to gain support as they have to become full time athletes and give up their day jobs so they can prepare for London. Would anyone be interested in sponsoring an Australian Player.

Preseason 2012, those two words that I know you are pumped to hear after last year. What a great  achievement going up to State League 2, so many players working hard, having some fun and striving for us to achieve. Preseason is open to all, men, women and juniors.

Any players wanting to be involved in the State League Squad/Pen teams will be expected to be involved in all Preseason training sessions with skills training starting in March. Until then training sessions will be more fitness/strength based with emphasis of speed/agility and fun blended to provide harmony.

And not to be too obvious but please endeavour to be at which ever venue you are expected to be at 15 mins before the start time so we can all start on time… and please call if for some strange reason you can’t make a session. We are committed to making this the best pre-season ever for you, so we expect you all to make the effort as well. Bring water and a towel to all sessions…

SO…can I suggest that for 1^st team players you should be doing some sort of fitness now…playing a game of summer hockey, going for a run, riding a bike or swimming at least once or twice a week…

2^nd/ 7^th/9^th/14^th/16^th/21^st/23^rd (Tues/Thurs combos) we will be doing agility, strength & speed sessions. Opposite Milanos(near South Road.), Beach Rd, Brighton.

FEB:
28^th (Tues) on ground training at Brighton Secondary College, Dendy St, Brighton East (same as last year)

MARCH:
6^th/8^th/13^th/15^th/20^th/22^nd/27^th/29^th (Tues/Thurs combos) on ground training at Brighton Secondary College, Dendy St, Brighton East

APRIL:
we are back at APK

There will be some preseason games during March & April…to be advised when all fully sorted!

Get into it this year, we have worked so hard for the past 3 years to go up let’s have areal crack and finish as high as we can…i will reward those who make an effort. for the 1sts players, being at every training session possible is a must…you have to show your commitment to the club, your coach and your teammates…no excuses…

Are you a budding movie maker, do you have a camera lying around that hasn’t been used for a whle, do you know your way around a PC or Mac, do you ever use YouTube? If the answer to any of these is yes then come this way…we’re looking to capture as much of pre season on video. We’re looking to document the season and promote on the website, youTube and Facebook,  the tough work that this great club puts into preparing for the new season.

ALBERT PARK – PARK RUN
A free, weekly 5km timed run takes place commence at Albert Park every Saturday at 8.00am.  This activity will have a relatively low impact on the park with approximately 30 runners expected each week.  The run will be contained to lake path with no road closures.  Please see attached flyer for more details.
